Getting your RV Adventure kicks on Historic Route 66

A fun way to spend your college spring break, summer vacation or an extended trip of a lifetime. It is essentially the ultimate RV road trip. Get off the fast-track in Chicago, and take in a bit of US history as you leisurely make your way as far West as Los Angeles. The Mother Road was the first highway connecting Illinois to California, established in 1926. Travelling this route in your rental RV allows you the convenience of taking it all in at your own pace, never having to worry about finding restaurants or hotels…truly the way to do it. As you meander along Route 66, through Missouri, Kansas and Oklahoma, you will have many opportunities to stop in some eerily, empty towns such as Rescue and Log City. It doesn’t take much imagination to realize how these towns were once busy and thriving communities, as you pass countless abandoned diners, motels and gas station. Your trip West along Route 66 should include a stop to check out the Route 66 Museum in Elk City…make sure to take a picture of Myrtle guarding the Museum. Continue your road trip into Texas and attempt to eat a big 72 ounce steak at the Big Texan Steak Ranch before driving your RV into New Mexico and on West to Arizona. Your first glimpse of the Pacific Ocean as you exit Santa Monica Blvd onto the Pacific Highway marks the end of the trip. What an adventure!!!
