Ride "the most beautiful road in the world," the Columbia Icefields Parkway (source Parks Canada). The Parkway passes within viewing distance of seven icefields, (large upland glaciers) and 25 smaller glaciers. The centrepiece is the Columbia Icefield, largest in the Rocky Mountains. Travel through Canada's oldest national parks. Enjoy the spectacular views, shopping, and attractions of Banff, Jasper, and Lake Louise.See below for Vancouver itinerary.
Itinerary from Calgary:
Day One:Arrive in Calgary. Transfer to hotel and explore Calgary. Overnight in Calgary.
Day Two:Pick up motorcycle at hotel. Ride across the Alberta prairie into the majestic wilderness and beauty of the Canadian Rockies. Your cruise takes you alongside the world famous Bow River to Banff, situated in Canada’s oldest national park. Take the gondola up Sulphur Mountain in Banff. Go for a hike on the mountaintop where you may view goats, big horn sheep, and bears. Other highlights: Cave and Basin Hotsprings and Castle Mountain, Banff Springs Golf Course. Have lunch and shop in Banff. Visit Radium Hotsprings and Takakwaa Falls on the ride to Lake Louise. Overnight in Lake Louise. You will return to Lake Louise, so save its many attractions for later in the tour.
Day Three:Prepare to be awed by your ride across the top of the world on the Columbia Icefields Parkway. You will want to stop frequently to view the scenery or approach a glacier on your 230 km. (142 miles) ride through a completely protected World Heritage Site enclosed in two national parks. Lunch at the two resorts along the way to Jasper. Explore picturesque Jasper or take the mountain gondola to world class hiking. Don’t be surprised to see caribou or big horn sheep in the streets of Jasper. Overnight in Jasper.
Day Four:Cruise through the unequalled scenery of Jasper National Park. Watch for wildlife on the slopes and on the road. Highlights: Hiking in Maligne Canyon, river rafting, a round at Jasper Park Lodge golf course (rated the “best golf resort in Canada” by Score magazine), or take a ride to Miette Hotsprings or to the mountain lakes. Overnight in Jasper.
Day Five:Return to Banff via the Columbia Icefields Parkway (310 km.). Stop in Lake Louise where you can view the Victoria glacier from the historic Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise (see picture?). Other highlights: Class four white water rafting on the Kicking Horse River, a hike to one of the famous tea houses (built 100 years ago by Swiss guides for their guests), or golf at Goldens Golf Course which is rated in the top ten in B.C. Overnight in Banff.
Day Six:Free day to explore Banff. Highlights include: Lake Minnewanka, Bow River Falls, Cave and Basin, Sulphur Mountain, Fort Luxton, Banff Centre for the Arts, and Banff Upper Hotsprings.Day Seven:Enjoy a leisurely ride through Kananaskis country to Calgary. Return your motorcycles by 11:00 a.m. Guided tours enjoy a farewell lunch at noon. Allow three hours to get to the airport and confirm your flight. Take home a treasure of memories of riding some of the most beautiful roads in the world.Vancouver Itinerary:Day 1Arrive Vancouver. Transfer to hotel, then explore Stanley Park and Vancouver. Welcome dinner tonight at 7:00, guided tours only. Day 2
Day 3Travel through the Monashee mountains to Arrow Lakes. Enjoy a dip in Halcyon hotsprings on the way to Revelstoke. Two free ferry crossings over the Arrow Lakes today. Overnight Revelstoke. Day 4Glacier National Park boasts over 300 glaciers, and makes for beautiful riding. We also stop at Takakw a falls and Lake Louise, before arriving in Banff. Overnight Banff. Day 5Free day to explore Banff. Ride the Sulphur Mountain gondola, or hike to the top and ride down. Visit the Cave and Basin Hotsprings, enjoy a dip in Banff Hotsprings. Overnight Banff. Day 6The Columbia Icefields Parkway is a stunning ride. Overnight in Jasper. Day 7Jasper to Cache Creek, down the Yellowhead highway. The landscape changes from the mountains to the interior ranching country. Overnight Cache Creek. Day 8Through the Fraser Canyon, with a visit at Hell's Gate. Tour ends in Vancouver approximately 4:00 pm.
