Portland, Oregon (OR) is nicknamed the “City of Roses”. Spectacular Northwest scenery surrounds this beautiful city. West of the city is the rugged Oregon Coast, head east and you can explore Mt. Hood National Forest. A little further east and you will find the magnificent Columbia River Gorge. Pioneer Courthouse Square offers more than 300 events each year.  Referred to as the “living room” of the city, it is the location of free outdoor concerts and other events.  Created in 1984, the square has been the hub of activity for the past 25 years.   

Within driving distance of Portland you can be at the rugged coastline of Oregon on the Pacific Ocean. A few hours southwest of the city are the famous Sea Lion Caves where Stellar Sea Lions can be viewed in their natural habitat. Southeast of the city is the world renowned Crater Lake

Just east of Portland is Mt Hood National ForestMt. Hood is renowned for some of the best skiing in the country. Mt. Hood National Forest also contains over 1,200 miles (1,900 km) of hiking trails. With over 170 developed recreation sites, this is an ideal spot in which to go camping. Other activities in Mt. Hood National Forest include boating, rafting, climbing, backpacking, fishing and horseback riding.   

Slightly further east is where the Columbia River Gorge has carved its way through the only sea-level route through the Cascade Mountains. This is another great area for hiking, mountain biking, windsurfing, camping, fishing, boating and rock climbing.
